Cocina: Latin American Flavors

Cook Book

MY LATIN AMERICAN HERITAGE IS ALWAYS CALLING ME.

For this project, I decided to make a cookbook to showcase different latin cuisines. It was a beautiful but challenging book to make. Gathering the info needed and making it fit into the parameters established was hard, but the end result is great.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Cook fanatics that like to cook at home. Foodies willing to try international foods.

REQUIREMENTS:

Create a 8 spread brochure that would showcase varied recipes from Latin America.

Colors.

I chose this color palette because it reminds me of how colorful the foods and decor of Latin America are. Being able to use these colors vibrant colors accented the feel-good warmth of eating home-made foods and sharing special moments with the people we love.

Spreads

Each of the spreads represents a country and a recipe it’s known for. The map was illustrated by hand, as well as each country. The recipes were carefully curated so that they really showed the essence of the country they were representing.

Reflection

Putting together this brochure was so much harder than I thought. InDesign was mostly used, which is an amazing tool for these types of projects. The grids, character types, grammar and spell check make certain steps faster, but fitting everything in the book size that I intended was a challenge. I loved the way it turned out, and it makes me proud to have produced a piece that represents me and my culture.
