MONTEVERDE, COSTA RICA

Multi-Channel Campaign

The objective of this design was to make a new city brand. I really wanted to showcase Costa Rica’s colors and latin vibe.

Monteverde is a very special place, and I really wanted to convey not only this, but all that it has to offer with its varied fauna and flora. Being in a cloud forest is in itself spectacular, and being up high in the mountains brings you certain peace and connection to nature you don’t get everywhere. As far as the elements we had to include, I made them functional to the area, it’s climate and activities.

Target Audience:

Nature lovers who like to go to unique places and get immersed in nature and the culture of the city or town they’re visiting.

Requirements:

Logo, webpage, environmental item, 3d item, city brochure (in this case info/exploration tags)

Mood Board Goal

It was very important to me that for this project, the vibe and spirit of Monteverde was conveyed accordingly. I wanted to incorporate as much nature (fauna and flora) as I could. It was clear from this mood board that I wanted the brand to be colorful, and that I was looking for a way to showcase the town in a different type of “brochure”.

Patterns

The patterns used in front of all of the info tags were created by hand and are original. I really like the way they turned out, and how they can be used in different ways throughout the city branding.

Info Tags

These info tags are what I like the most about the project. I did the illustrations on the front side (title side), and gathered info to be able to put on the back side, where another illustration of each bird and animal is included + relevant information of each. These tags are meant for turists to hang around their necks and have a “check-list” on hand when they go on a hike.

Collateral

This billboard is eye catching because it highlights the contrast between being in nature in the middle of the city. The brick building is beautiful and it showcases the greenery and nature found in Monteverde.

The windbreaker/jacket is meant to be super functional considering Monteverde is a cloud forest and it rains a lot. It’s also dark green so that bird watchers and other tourists can go on hikes and blend with the environment.

Reflection

Monteverde is a gem in Costa Rica. I’m very happy to have completed this project in a way I feel that transports us to the this piece of heaven where we can “breathe the forest”. It was a huge project with many bits and pieces we had to do in a short amount of time, but I’m very happy with the result.
